"Beacon Rocks!" 2011 on Lander Festival Street
Beacon Rocks! Roberto Maestas Festival Street 2011 dates are: June 26 July 31 August 28 1-5 pm Why is this listed here? ROCKiT Community Arts was a big partner with Beacon Hill Music in putting on these events. Now Beacon Hill Music has become part of ROCKiT Community Arts to continue putting on "Beacon Rocks!" and other musical activities on Beacon Hill. What is this? Free, outdoor, family friendly performances by musicans and performers, many of them from Beacon Hill. Where is this? "Beacon Rocks!" events are held on Seattle's one and only (so far) festival street, the Roberto Maestas Festival Street is the block of Lander next to the Beacon Hill Light Rail station. Click here for directions. Who are these Guys? ROCKiT Space is a group of your neighbors. We are excited about our new outdoor community meeting place, recently renamed as the “Roberto Maestas Festival Street” (just north of Beacon Light Rail Station & east of Beacon Ave South). Among the seemingly endless possible uses, Beacon Hill Music wants neighborhood musicians to perform there for you, their neighbors. Why is it "Beacon Rocks!?" We mean: ”Beacon” as in “our neighborhood”, the folks who live, work or go to school around here. “Rocks!” Is used to mean “a lively state of being excellent” NOT as in only rock music allowed. What is the point? We want to create opportunities for local musicians and performers to provide free entertainment for their neighbors. We hope this will enrich and strengthen our community pride. Besides . . . It’s Fun! Why should we have all the fun? You’re right. Any one who would like to help flyer the neighborhood and spread the word and/or be on hand the day of one or more of the events: Volunteer! We would be eternally grateful for your help and involvement with the Beacon Rocks! music series!! write to us at beaconrocks@gmail.com You can also join our "Beacon Rocks!" facebook group. Beacon Rocks! is brought to you by ROCKiT Community Arts. Thanks also to our number one sponsor, the North Beacon Hill Council. |
